01. INTRO TO. . .

Welcome to The Pissed Off Professor.
I suppose it’s only fair I tell you a little bit about myself: I’ve been teaching college-level English courses for the past eight years. I teach a wide range of skill levels from the college student who can’t manage to construct a sentence all the way up to the college student whose brain can make mincemeat out of mine.
I am currently employed as an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Language and Literature Department of Sacramento City College; however, I have also taught at CSU, Sacramento; at UC, Davis; and at MTI College of Business and Technology.
In the spirit of total disclosure, I must admit that by many standards, I am not really a “Professor.” I do not have a PhD. I do have an AA, a BA, and an MA, and in some circles, the mere fact that I teach at a college confers on me the title of “Professor.”
The title means nothing to me: I invite my students to call me by my first name primarily because I call them by theirs. One of my first college lessons was how meaningless the title “Professor” could be in the hands of a few of my college instructors.
I humbly apologize if my use of the term “Professor” seems false or pretentious; however, you can understand that The Pissed Off Adjunct Faculty Member lacks a certain, uh, ring.
As to why I’m pissed off, well, if you’re really interested, I dare you to read on. . .
